This course is designed for students who have little knowledge about electric basics or a lack of experience in the field. In the 100 level course, students will be introduced to electrical fundamentals, discuss uses and dangers of electricity, start tackling the ideas inside of the NEC code, and define and start to unpack concepts inside of magnetism and electromagnetism.

Electron Theory

12:00pm–2:30pm

Download and go online to a Logix5000 controller

• Conductors, Semiconductors, Atomic bonding, and Compounds.

Magnetism

2:30pm–3:15pm

Operate the Logix Designer application

•  Magnetic Lines of Force, Law of Attraction and Repulsion.

•  Electric Current Flow, DANGERS of Electricity and the NEC code.

Electromagnetism

3:15pm–4:30pm

Configure local 1756-I/O modules

• Electromagnetism in a coil, Magnetic
core, Amperes, and Turns.

Uses of Electromagnetism
